While much of the work of physician advisors involves the daily task-oriented work of determining admission status or talking to doctors about better documentation, they also can play a key role in many of the hospital's strategic initiatives involving the case management team. These include work on improving transitions of care, optimizing patient outcomes, addressing the social determinants of health, and developing innovative ways to deliver hospital-level care in alternative settings. Hear from three case management leaders and their physician advisors about how they are developing partnerships to address these issues, cementing the role of the physician advisor as a critical part of the leadership team. Each physician advisor and case management leader provides an overview of their team collaboration and provide attendees tips to increase their value to their organization.
