Welcome To The American College Of Physician Advisors

The American College of Physician Advisors (ACPA) has been in existence since 2014 and we are fully engaged in a period of rapid growth having surpassed the 1,000-member mark at the end of 2022. What was started by an intrepid handful of physicians with a great idea has become the most respected and trusted organization in our field, supporting physician advisors and other hospital and health system leaders across the country.

As the fourth president and incoming president elect of the ACPA, we have had the pleasure of witnessing the College’s escalating influence and impact. We have produced and hosted dozens and dozens of educational presentations in live and virtual formats, published articles, presented advisory papers, and offered regulatory reviews. But, it’s our membership which we identify as our shining North Star.

The ACPA continues to discover, cultivate, and promote the leaders of tomorrow in case management, hospital utilization, clinical documentation integrity, health system revenue cycle, and healthcare regulation. Our ranks are dynamic, innovative, passionate, and incredibly varied in the specialties in which we practiced or continue to practice patient care. There are endless projects to tackle and opportunities to uncover and the lessons learned along the way can help countless others in their own health systems.

If you are a new physician advisor with fresh perspective on how to tackle an engrained problem, we want to hear from you. If you are an early-career case management leader who’s found success employing a particular process improvement, we want to hear from you. If you’ve been in the field for a number of years but have never been published, never spoke at a conference, and aren’t “known” in the community but have accomplished change for the better at your health system, we want to hear from you!

The ACPA educates via newsletters, conferences, webinars, stand-alone articles, blogs, and more. We encourage you to share your expertise and successes via these venues, in turn, establishing yourself as an expert in the discipline. Simply reach out via the “Send Us an E-mail” section here. Our leadership continues to evolve, as well, with new opportunities popping up within our committees, Advisory Board, and even our Board of Directors. Come level-up with us and make your mark! We’re so very excited to see where we go from here with your involvement.

Sincerely,

Clarissa Barnes
