  • First Southeastern Physician Advisor Symposium (SEPAS) held in Spartanburg, SC welcomed 52 physician, nurse, and other healthcare leadership attendees.

2013

  • Second SEPAS held in Greenville, SC.
  • Discussion starts in Orlando, FL at the National Association of Physician Advisors (NAPA) conference about creation of what will become the American College of Physician Advisors (ACPA).
    Participants in the brain-storming: Dr. Jeffrey Epstein, Dr. Larry Field, Dr. Ronald Hirsch, Ms. Elizabeth Lamkin, Dr. Steven Meyerson, Dr. Bernard Ravitz, Dr. Ronald Rejzer, Dr. Howard Stein, Dr. E.G. “Nick” Ulmer, Dr. Daniel Zirkman.
  • American Society of Medical Advisors (ASMA) establishes as an organization of Clinical Documentation Integrity physician advisors at the Association of Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists’ (ACDIS) annual conference.

  • ACPA grows to 100 members.

2016

  • Edward P. Hu
    Dr. Edward P. Hu becomes the second president.
  • Fourth SEPAS held in Greenville, SC.
  • ACPA and the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians (ABQAURP) partner to provide healthcare quality and management (HCQM) certification.

  • NPAC 2020 cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

2023

  • NPAC 2023 held in Orlando, FL.
  • ACPA Emeritus Board established.
  • TLC comprehensively re-worked and updated to allow for topic-focused learning and a ’la carte selections.
  • Clarissa Barnes
    Dr. Clarissa Barnes becomes the fifth president.
