Objectives - After Attending This Program You Should Be Able To

1. Describe Medicare’s 2 Midnight Rule and how to apply it for proper Inpatient/Outpatient status designation for Medicare FFS beneficiaries.
2. Understand the purpose of condition code 44, when and what is required for completion and the physician advisor role in completion of this important process.
3. Describe and understand Medicare MS-DRG system and the implications of CC/MCC effect on hospital payment and quality scoring. Understand how Physician Advisors can assist Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists in ensuring accurate and complete documentation in clinical care is captured.
