Vice President of Operations
Reports to: President
Tenure: Two years. May be reappointed to this position for an additional term.
Function: The Vice President of Operations is a high-profile American College of Physician Advisors (ACPA) leadership team position. The Vice President of Operations oversees the College’s operations as the President assigns. The time commitment is expected to be 10 hours per week. The Vice President of Operations serves as a member of the Executive Committee.
Principal Activities:
- Ensures that the committee chair(s) of assigned College programs and activities have prepared and followed an operational plan and budget to align with the goals and objectives in the College strategic plan by which performance may be measured and reported.
- Monitors the progress of implementing the College’s strategic plan and update various stakeholders using a balanced scorecard.
- Facilitates regular communication between various committees and the Executive Committee as often as appropriate to address issues of mutual interest.
- Provides oversight of contract negotiations, vendor relationships, and new strategic relationship development.
- Offers strategic advice on committee initiatives to the President and Executive Committee.
- Ensures that the assigned College committees appropriately identify and cultivate future leaders.
- Responsible for annual review of policy issues affecting the College and makes recommendations to the President.
- Maintains accurate record-keeping of all pertinent documents and establishes policies and procedures regarding the storage method and who can access the records.
- Collaborate with the administrative director of ACPA and other stakeholders regarding the operations of the college.
- Well-versed in and/or comfortable with providing constructive direction.
- Participate in the Executive Committee discussions (at least two one-hour monthly meetings).
- Participate in the annual leadership retreat.
Requirements:
- Physician degree (MD, MBBS, DO)
- An advanced degree such as an MBA or MHA is preferred
- ACPA member with current ACPA membership for at least five years
- ACPA-C credential is preferred [commitment to earn the credential within three months of accepting the position is acceptable]
- At least five years of experience as a physician advisor in any capacity
