ACPA Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct

Members of the American College of Physician Advisors (ACPA) are committed to professionalism, integrity, diversity and equity. We strive to provide a safe and productive environment free of harassment, discrimination, or hostile conduct. We recognize a shared responsibility to create and maintain that environment for the benefit of all. As such, any form of harassment or discrimination is prohibited. ACPA promotes equal opportunities and treatment for everyone, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, physical or mental ability, disability, physical appearance, ethnicity, religion, political affiliation, or nationality. By joining ACPA or participating in ACPA-sponsored activities, you agree to adhere to this Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.

What is Harassment? Harassment includes speech, gestures or behavior that is not welcome or is personally offensive, whether it is based on gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, physical or mental ability, disability, physical appearance, ethnicity, religion, political affiliation, or nationality. It includes offensive jokes, slurs, name calling, deliberate intimidation, stalking, unwelcome attention, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate/unnecessary physical contact and unprofessional use of nudity and/or sexual images. Behavior that is acceptable to one person may not be acceptable to another, so use discretion to be sure that respect is communicated. Harassment intended in a joking manner still constitutes unacceptable behavior.

Grounds for Exclusion or Expulsion

A member or vendor may be excluded from membership in ACPA or from attending or participating in ACPA events if they:

· Engage in conduct that violates the ACPA Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct

· Engage in discriminatory or harassing behavior towards attendees, other vendors, or staff

· Misrepresent their products, services, or credentials

· Engage in dishonest, fraudulent, or unfair business practices

· Violate confidentiality agreements or infringe upon the intellectual property of others

· Participate in any activity that reflects poorly on ACPA

Reporting

Any individual who believes that they have been subjected to harassment or discrimination should contact the ACPA Administrative Director, Parthavi Das, or the ACPA President. All complaints will be treated seriously and investigated promptly. Confidentiality will be honored

to the extent permitted. If a vendor is found to have violated the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct, they will be required to leave the event immediately. No refunds will be provided. Complaints against ACPA members will be investigated in accordance with ACPA bylaws.
