ACPA has Announced Their Newest Member of the Board of DirectorsNovember 1, 2021 The American College of Physician Advisors (ACPA) is pleased to announce Emeric Palmer MBBS, MBA, FACP has joined the Board of Directors as the National Physician Advisor Conference (NPAC) Champion. Dr. Palmer is a medical director with Anthem Inc. He is a member of the Clinical Documentation Integrity Committee with the ACPA and has worked as a physician executive in the Healthcare Revenue Cycle over the last decade. “Dr. Palmer is a welcome and novel addition to our board of directors as the first member who serves as medical director for a commercial health insurance plan,” said ACPA President Juliet B. Ugarte Hopkins MD. “I look forward to seeing how his unique insights and perspective on physician advisor education will shape our College's member support opportunities in the future.” Dr. Palmer holds board certifications in Internal Medicine with Focused Practice in Hospital Medicine, Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine, and Healthcare Quality and Management with the physician advisor subspecialty. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, and graduated from the College of Medicine, University of Benin, in Benin, Nigeria. He also holds an MBA from the University of Massachusetts. Prior to his current role, he served as Senior Medical Director Resource Utilization at Mary Washington Healthcare, Physician Advisor and Assistant Chief Medical Officer at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital in Northern Virginia, and Physician Advisor at Meritus Medical Center in Maryland. “I’m excited to be part of the NPAC 2022 committee, supporting ACPA’s tradition of top-rated conferences for physician advisors,” said Dr. Palmer.
