Pressure Injury Documentation and the Physician Advisor: How Can We Help and What’s In it for Me?

Clinical Documentation Integrity Committee

Please watch this panel discussion amongst ACPA CDI committee physician advisors who are experienced in supporting documentation integrity related to pressure injuries. During this session, they briefly described a background of pressure injury specific terms and definitions, quality measures associated with pressure injuries, and other common alternate diagnoses. Our panelists shared insights on what they are doing in their own institution related to pressure injuries, tips, and broadly applicable opportunities for physician advisors. We also discussed subtle nuances of the documentation that can influence pressure injury code assignment and ended with thoughts on the future tools that may be available to help clinicians, CDI, coders, and physician advisors efforts in this area.
